The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Germany for seven months of 2023 increased by 69.4% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 185.5 million US dollars. In the total volume of Turkmenistan's foreign trade, Germany ranks 11th. The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Germany for seven months of 2023 increased by 69.4% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 185.5 million US dollars. In the total volume of Turkmenistan's foreign trade, Germany ranks 11th. Such indicators were announced during the Turkmen-German business forum held in Berlin on September 29.

Turkmenistan imports mainly machinery and equipment, electrical goods, vehicles, industrial and household goods from Germany and offers to expand the range of its exports to Germany to include tomatoes and other fruit and vegetable products, carpets and textiles, etc.

This was discussed at the talks that took place on the sidelines of the business forum, between representatives of the business circles of the two countries. Among the numerous areas of promising cooperation was the attraction of advanced German technologies.

Such technologies and equipment are already working in many areas in Turkmenistan, including in medical institutions, cotton spinning and weaving factories, in the dyeing industry, and the food industry.

In addition to expanding these capacities with an eye to applying new solutions and equipment from German companies, the Turkmen side expressed interest in implementing joint projects in the energy, chemical industries, the development of mineral deposits with the production of fertilizers, building materials, as well as in the development of transport infrastructure, tourism.

Cooperation in the field of transition to a green economy, the creation of industries that meet the requirements of energy conservation, water conservation, provision of alternative energy sources and digitalization, as well as training specialists in these profiles is called very promising.

In this context, it was proposed to intensify cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries, including the exchange of business information, including the search for partners in the field of production, the creation of joint ventures, the organization of business forums, trade and economic missions, exhibitions and fairs. In particular, it was proposed to organize an exhibition of goods of German manufacturers in Turkmenistan in 2024.
