Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz during a working visit to Germany. The national leader of the Turkmen people and the head of the German government confirmed their mutual interest in taking the partnership to a new level, discussing its key areas. The parties focused on political and diplomatic cooperation.

"As you know, alarming events of a global scale are taking place in the world today, which can cause serious damage to the world order. In such a situation, as noted, it is important to exercise political restraint and a responsible approach to solving existing problems," TDH writes about the content of the negotiations. Turkmenistan, being a neutral country, has consistently adhered to this policy since gaining independence, the agency notes.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Olaf Scholz also spoke in favor of intensifying the Turkmen-German trade and economic cooperation, highlighting a number of promising vectors, the most significant of which is energy.

In particular, the meeting considered the possibility of German companies participating in the development of the fuel and energy complex of Turkmenistan, attracting capital and technological competencies from Germany, conducting a feasibility study, services, equipment supplies and construction of new facilities in this area.

The banking sector, the chemical industry and the textile industry, healthcare, transport, green technologies, water use, and digitalization were also named among the promising vectors.

Special emphasis was placed on healthcare, where extensive experience of cooperation has been gained. Most medical institutions in Turkmenistan are equipped with equipment, mainly of German production, and an intensive exchange of experience and knowledge has been established between representatives of the medical communities of the two countries.

The topic of joint work in the field of education, culture and archeology was also touched upon.
