The new Ambassador of Spain arrived in Ashgabat
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova accepted copies of credentials from the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain (with residence in Moscow) Marcos Gomez Martinez.
During a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Thursday, the vice minister congratulated the Spanish diplomat on his appointment to a responsible post and expressed the readiness of the Turkmen side to assist and support his mission.
The interlocutors discussed the current agenda of bilateral cooperation, exchanged views on the prospects for interaction between Turkmenistan and Spain both in a bilateral format and within international structures.
In terms of intensifying the partnership, such areas as agriculture, transport and logistics, cultural and humanitarian relations, educational programs, including learning the Spanish language, were highlighted.
Madrid appointed Marcos Gómez Martínez as the new Spanish ambassador to Turkmenistan back in January 2022. The kingdom's previous ambassador, Fernando Valderrama Pareja, took office in March 2019.
