A judge from Turkmenistan will judge judo matches at the Asian Games in Hangzhou

From September 23 to October 8, the 19th Summer Asian Games are being held in Hangzhou, China, in which athletes from different countries in the region take part. A judge from Turkmenistan also works at the games, who evaluates the participants’ performances in judo.

Rovshan Amandurdyev is an international judge in judo - IJF International of the highest category A, who has been judging tournaments since 2002. He received the international category “B” in 2011 based on the results of a seminar-exam for judges in Bangkok, and category “A” in 2022 in Almaty.

He judged many Asian championships among cadets and juniors and open European and Asian Judo Cups. Of the major competitions, he refereed the World Veterans Championship in Krakow (Poland) in 2022. And now he has been entrusted with judo refereeing at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, where Turkmen judokas also compete. In addition to him, international chess judge Vladimir Annaev from Turkmenistan officiates competitions in this sport. He is entrusted with personally judging the first board in the individual competition among women, which takes place under the “rapid” time control regulations.

Let us remind you that the Asian Games are held from September 23 to October 8. The 19th Asian Summer Games in Hangzhou were originally scheduled to be held from September 10 to 25, 2022, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the competition was postponed to 2023.

In total, more than 15 thousand athletes from 45 Asian countries take part in the Games. At the Games, 481 sets of medals are awarded in 40 sports.

Turkmen athletes represent the country in sports such as 3x3 basketball, boxing, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, jujitsu, judo, kurash wrestling, karate, athletics, swimming, weightlifting and wushu.

We previously reported that judoka Maysa Pardaeva brought the first medal to the Turkmen team at the XIX Asian Games. The athlete received a bronze award in the weight category up to 57 kg.
