The visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Turkmenistan was announced
An official visit of Georgian Prime Minister Georgy Kvirikashvili to Turkmenistan is planned in the near future. According to the press service of the Georgian government administration, issues of this visit and bilateral cooperation were discussed during the meeting of G. Kvirikashvili with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan R. Meredov who visited Tbilisi on a two-day trip. The head of the Turkmen foreign ministry met with his Georgian counterpart, Mikhail Janelidze. The Ministers noted the positive dynamics and close cooperation that has been formed between Georgia and Turkmenistan over the past period. "Political cooperation between our countries is developing dynamically, especially over the past few years. This was expressed in visits, meetings at a very high level and I am confident that with such a pace we will be able to achieve a significant result in the future," Janelidze said. Of course, Turkmenistan plays a very important role in the development of transport, energy, transit projects, Janelidze stressed. The meeting focused on the topics of economic cooperation, including the development of the transport corridor in the South Caucasus, trade and tourism, the Novosti-Georgia news agency reported. The head of the foreign policy department of Turkmenistan was also received by the president of the country Georgi Margvelashvili. At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of development of trade, economic and energy cooperation. Georgia established diplomatic relations with Turkmenistan on July 16th, 1992. Countries cooperate in the fields of transport, energy and agriculture.
