Negotiations with the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization were held in Ashgabat


Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held talks in Ashgabat on September 26 with Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Kunio Mikuria, who is on a visit to the Turkmen capital, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
Cooperation with the World Customs Organization is an important area of partnership for Turkmenistan in the context of improving customs activities, ensuring the security of cross-border movement of goods, the development of regional and international trade, Rashid Meredov noted.
Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of transport infrastructure, as well as transport and logistics capabilities of the country. In this regard, new logistics and transit hubs, customs facilities have been created in the country, and the material and technical base of customs services is being regularly strengthened, the meeting said.
The parties discussed the current agenda of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the WCO, as well as prospects for further cooperation. The participants of the negotiations noted the successful interaction of the parties within the framework of international and regional meetings, conferences and consultations organized by the WCO.
At the meeting, they also agreed to intensify cooperation in expanding and strengthening the legal framework related to international customs activities.
