Expert: Turkmenistan is not susceptible to the influence of radicalism

A workshop on “Countering violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism: a multidimensional approach” started on Tuesday, April 3, at the Yyldyz Hotel in Ashgabat.
The keynote of those participated at the workshop is that: for effective fight against radicalism and extremism as well as related actions and methods of violent nature that pose a threat to the world community, a unified international approach to their classification necessary to be developed.
On this basis, according to observers, it is necessary to take concrete actions, taking into account the positive experience of individual countries in preventing the spread of radical ideas.
Jacob Zenn, a research fellow of the Center for Shanghai Cooperation Organization Studies, emphasized that Turkmenistan is a unique country that, despite its neighborhood to Afghanistan, where there is a long war and various radical ideas spread, is not susceptible absolutely to the harmful influence of radicalism.
This fact confirms that neutral Turkmenistan, which competently conducts youth policy, is protected reliably from the destructive influence of extremist propaganda. In this regard, Mr. Zenn noted that Turkmenistan is of special interest for both theorists and practitioners whose efforts are aimed at fighting against terrorist threat and expressed the hope that the workshop will help to establish a productive sharing of experience with Turkmen experts.
