The Head of State signed a decree on pardon at an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers with the participation of members of the State Security Council. Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the heads of local authorities to help those pardoned with employment. This was reported in the evening news of the Turkmen television.

In Turkmenistan, a pardon campaign is traditionally held on the eve of important national and state holidays. This time, the action of pardoning convicts is held in honor of the 32nd anniversary of the country's independence.
