Ashgabat hosts a meeting of the High-level Working Group on the Caspian Sea


The 6th meeting of the High-level Working Group on the Caspian Sea will be held in Ashgabat, in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The meeting opens on Monday, September 11 and will last until September 13. The event will be attended by delegations of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.
In the Communique of the Sixth Caspian Summit, held on June 29, 2022 in Ashgabat, the Presidents of the five Caspian littoral states indicated that "the priority task of the Caspian negotiation process is the early approval in a five-sided format of the draft Agreement on the methodology for establishing direct baselines in the Caspian Sea."
The previous, 5th meeting of the High-level Working Group on the Caspian Sea was held in December 2022 in Moscow. Prior to this meeting, HLWG on the Caspian Sea was hosted by: Tehran in May 2022, Moscow in February 2021, Nur- Sultan (Astana) in April 2019 and the first, Baku in February 2019.
