A delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan participated in a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS countries


A meeting of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS member states took place in Turkestan, Kazakhstan, on September 15. The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, the head of the police of Armenia, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, as well as the Executive Committee of the CIS, the Bureau for Coordination of Combating Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Types of Crime in the Territory of the CIS member states and the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, Polisia.kz reports.
A number of important issues aimed at increasing the effectiveness of cooperation in combating crime were discussed at the meeting. As noted, organized crime poses a threat to the internal security of all CIS member states. Economic globalization, the development of information technology and the transparency of borders contribute to the increase in the scale of organized crime and the acquisition of a transnational character.
One of the current problems is drug trafficking. Council participants discussed how to stop the spread of psychotropic substances. Examples from the activities of the Kazakh police were reviewed, the experience of Armenian law enforcement officers in the field of combating drug trafficking on the Internet and Belarusian ones in combating cybercrime was discussed.
The Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS member states decided to send Belarusian methodological recommendations on identifying and uncovering cybercrimes to their Commonwealth colleagues.
The results of joint operational and preventive measures and special operations were also summed up.
The final documents were adopted at the meeting. In particular, the Action Plan to improve road safety in the territories of member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States for 2024–2028.
At the end of the event, a press conference was held with the participation of ministers and deputy ministers of internal affairs of the CIS member states.
The heads of the delegations that arrived in Kazakhstan to participate in the meeting of the CMIA of the CIS member states visited the operational control center of the police of the Turkestan region, got acquainted with modern technologies that are being introduced into the work of police officers to ensure law and order and the safety of citizens, and respect for their rights.
The Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS member states was created on January 19, 1996 for the purpose of interaction and coordination of actions in the fight against crime. The CMIA considers issues of strengthening law and order, develops proposals on issues within the competence of the police, promotes the mutual exchange of experience and information between the ministries of internal affairs, manages the activities of the Bureau for the coordination of the fight against organized crime and other dangerous types of crimes in the territory of the CIS member states, which has celebrated its 30th anniversary.
