President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated Tarman Shanmugaratnam on assuming the office of President of the Republic of Singapore.
In a congratulatory telegram, the Head of Turkmenistan expressed to Tarman Shanmugaratnam wishes of good health, energy and will, as well as great success in all endeavors and activities aimed at the progress and prosperity of the people of Singapore. This was reported on the air of the Turkmen State Television.
Earlier, on September 13, consultations were held in the format of a videoconference between the heads of structural divisions of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Singapore. According to the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, during the negotiations, the parties noted the need to organize mutual visits at the highest level.
Tharman Shanmugaratnam won the Singapore presidential election on September 1 with more than 70% of the vote. Since the early 2000s, he has worked in the government of the city-state, held the posts of Minister of Education, Finance, Socio-economic Development, as well as Deputy Prime Minister.
