The President of Tajikistan proposed to create a Central Asian Media Association


Speaking at the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States on Thursday, Emomali Rahmon noted that in recent years, interest in Central Asia from the media has sharply increased.
"The media space is filled with very different, sometimes contradictory and distorted information about the situation in the region. It is necessary to take measures to create an informational atmosphere of genuine friendship and cooperation in the region, based on real facts, not speculation," Khovar agency quotes the head of state as saying.
To this end, the President of Tajikistan proposed to create an Association of Mass Media of Central Asian States.
The Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States is attended by President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and guest of honor — President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
