Preparations for a meeting of foreign ministers of the Caspian states were discussed in Ashgabat


The sixth meeting of the High-Level Working Group on Caspian Sea Issues was held in Ashgabat on September 11-13. The meeting was attended by delegations from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan.
“The parties continued to discuss the draft agreement on the methodology for establishing straight baselines in the Caspian Sea and agreed on a number of its provisions. Discussion of this document will be continued at the next meeting of the HLWG,” the meeting communiqué says.
As follows from the message, the meeting also discussed issues of preparation for the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Caspian states.
The delegations positively assessed the results of the negotiations and expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for the high level of organization of the meeting.
The next meeting of the High-Level Working Group on Caspian Sea Issues will be held in Azerbaijan.
