Turkmen belt wrestlers were awarded four medals at the International Ethnosport Festival
Turkmen belt wrestlers won four medals at the international Ethnosport Festival, which was held with September 7-10 in Khiva (Uzbekistan).
The award of the highest standard was won by Annagurban Allaberdyev in the weight category up to 90 kg. On the way to the first place, the Turkmen athlete defeated representatives of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
Another gold medal in the piggy bank of the Turkmen national team was brought by Nobatgeldy Nazarov in the weight up to 100 kg, who prevailed over athletes from Tajikistan, the USA and Russia.
The silver medal was awarded to Rozymurad Medov in the weight category up to 82 kg. Having successfully passed the preliminary stage of the tournament, the Turkmen athlete reached the final stage, where he lost to a wrestler from Uzbekistan, thereby placing himself on the second place of the podium.
Agayusup Garayev won the bronze medal in the weight up to 75 kg in the decisive match defeating the representative of Russia.
Recall that about 2 thousand athletes from more than 60 countries became participants of the International Ethnosport Festival, which was held in the Uzbek city of Khiva. The site of the grand opening, which was witnessed, among others, by athletes from Turkmenistan, was the historical complex of the ancient monument city of Ichan-Kala.
Competitions in national sports included belt wrestling, Yakut mas-wrestling, Uzbek zhang sanati.
Culinary tournaments, demonstration sports performances, exhibitions of paintings and fabrics, handicrafts from all over the world were also launched as part of the festival.
Traditional games are proclaimed by UNESCO as an integral part of the World Cultural Heritage, in connection with which special attention is paid to the preparation and organization of such major events.
