Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed condolences to the King of Morocco in connection with the earthquake


President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has sent deep condolences to King Mohammed VI of Morocco in connection with the strong earthquake that occurred in the country, which caused numerous human casualties and large-scale destruction.
On behalf of the people, the Government of Turkmenistan and on his own behalf, the Head of State expressed empathy and conveyed words of support to the relatives and friends of the victims at this difficult moment, wished a speedy recovery to the injured, the TDH news agency said.
The number of victims of the earthquake in Morocco amounted to 2012 people on Sunday morning, another 2059 were injured, more than 1.4 thousand victims are in critical condition, according to a statement issued by the Moroccan Interior Ministry.
An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 occurred late on Friday evening. Its epicenter lay, according to various sources, at a depth of 11 km to 18 km in the Atlas Mountains, about 70 km south of Marrakesh. The earthquake was the strongest in Morocco in the last 120 years, and in North Africa such natural disasters are relatively rare.
The King of Morocco is in the country for three days of mourning for the victims of the earthquake and ordered to lower the national flags of the kingdom.
