The interaction of St. Petersburg and Turkmenistan was discussed by the head of the Halk Maslahaty and the Russian governor


Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov on Monday.
"The Government of St. Petersburg is aware of the political and economic importance of ties with Turkmenistan. We consider them a priority in international activities. Our contacts fully correspond to the policy of deepening strategic partnership pursued by the presidents of our countries," Alexander Beglov said.
During the meeting with the national leader of the Turkmen people, the governor noted that the interaction between St. Petersburg and Turkmenistan has reached a high and trusting level, and the development of these relations is facilitated by projects of trade, economic, humanitarian and social cooperation, as well as exchanges of visits of delegations, the governor's press service reports.
According to Alexander Beglov, cultural ties have no less important potential. In particular, the issue of installing a monument to the classic of Turkmen literature Magtymguly Pyragy in St. Petersburg is being resolved. It was decided to put it in the historical center of the city — in the square at 15 Chkalovsky Avenue in the Petrogradsky district.
"We highly appreciate the attention paid in Turkmenistan to preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War. This month, the Museum of the Defense and Blockade of Leningrad will host a cultural and educational event "Turkmens in defense of Leningrad," Alexander Beglov stressed.
The delegation of St. Petersburg headed by Alexander Beglov is currently on an official visit to Ashgabat. The Governor was received by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
