Cotton harvesting started in Turkmenistan
Cotton harvesting began in Turkmenistan on Saturday, September 9. The campaign unfolded in the Ahal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary regions simultaneously, and the northernmost region – Dashoguz – will join it on September 15.
On the occasion of the start of the cotton harvest, solemn ceremonies were organized with the participation of elders, performances of artists and various exhibitions. Valuable gifts were presented to cotton farmers who have grown a good harvest on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, TDH news agency reports.
In the current season, 580 thousand hectares of land have been allocated for cotton in the country. Round-the-clock technical and service maintenance of the operated equipment is organized locally for the smooth operation of the cotton harvesting conveyor. Harvesting points and cotton gins have been prepared in a timely manner, which on Saturday received the first batches of crops delivered by caravans of cars and tractors with trailers. Specialists of the Main State Service "Turkmenstandards" will ensure thorough quality control of incoming products.
