The Ambassador of Turkmenistan held meetings with the leadership of ASEAN
Ambassador of Turkmenistan to ASEAN Muhammetniyaz Mashalov met with Secretary General of the Association of South-East Asia Nations Kao Kim Hurn. The meeting took place at the organization's Secretariat located in Jakarta. This year the Association is chaired by Indonesia.
The Secretary General spoke about the main results of the 43rd ASEAN Summit and related events, which took place in Jakarta from Tuesday to Thursday. Muhammetniyaz Mashalov and Kao Kim Hurn exchanged views on ways to develop ASEAN-Turkmenistan relations. This was reported on the website of the organization.
The Turkmen Ambassador also met with ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General for Political Security Affairs Michael Tene. The parties noted their intention to increase comprehensive cooperation and readiness to work together to further enhance it.
Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Malaysia Muhammetniyaz Mashalov was accredited as his country's representative to ASEAN in 2019.
Earlier, Ambassador Mashalov reported about Turkmenistan’s plans to be the first in Central Asia to establish direct flights with Cambodia, namely with the province of Siem Reap, one of the key tourist centers in the ASEAN region.
