Turkmen grain growers have entered the sowing campaign
Mass sowing of winter wheat started in Turkmenistan on September 6 in all regions simultaneously. On this occasion, solemn events were organized with exhibitions and performances by local artists. According to tradition, the honorary elders of the region, together with representatives of the younger generation, threw the first seeds into the ground, after which agricultural machinery set off in the fields.
The sowing machines are “charged” with seeds of such varieties of food wheat as those bred by domestic breeders Sähraýy, Ýolöten-1 and Ýolöten-3, Juwan, Miras, Berkarar, Bagtyýarlyk, Garaşsyzlyk, Bitarap, as well as the Krasnodar variety “Batko”.
Seminars with the participation of representatives of regional and district authorities, heads of farmers' associations, agronomists, machine operators, and grain growers were timed to the beginning of the sowing season. At the seminars, the issues of using modern methods of agricultural technology and best practices in the cultivation of cereals were once again worked out.
