What is light rail?
Light metro (light underground railway) is one of the types of regular high-speed rail urban transport. Usually, light metro lines are located on the surface or on overpasses, sometimes they have small tunnel sections.
The trains have 2-4 cars, the diameter of the tunnels is 4-5 meters, significant slopes and small turning radii are allowed in the tunnels and above the ground, the platforms at the stations are high, 50-90 meters long and 5-8 meters wide.
In large metropolitan areas, light metro lines often serve as connections to airports or regular metro stations, and in small cities they can form the basis of the urban transport system.
