Atageldy Garyagdyev, an opera singer, People's Artist of Turkmenistan, performed a song in Astrakhan that will become the musical arrangement of a documentary film about Magtymguly Fragi, which is currently being filmed in the Astrakhan region by Association "Turkmenfilm".
The Turkmen baritone performed a composition to the words of Magtymguly near the monument to the poet in the park of Astrakhan State University. Recall that Atageldy Garyagdiyeva takes part in the International Festival of Classical Art "Caspian Seasons - 2023", which takes place in the city of Astrakhan from August 22 to September 6. The concert "Day of Turkmenistan" was held on August 28 at the Astrakhan Philharmonic.
At the same time, the “Turkmenfilm” film crew is working in the region to collect materials for a future documentary. The film script was based on scientific literature and work with dozens of sources that mention the great Turkmen poet. The heroes of the documentary will be Astrakhan historians, poets, writers, students, as well as teachers and schoolchildren of the general education school named after Magtymguly in the village of Funtovo, Privolzhsky district. Recall that the educational institution was built at the expense of Turkmenistan.
According to the press service of the governor of the AO, the educational location has become one of the key filming locations for Turkmen filmmakers. “Magtymguly Fragi visited the Astrakhan province in the 60-90s of the XVIII century, lived among the Turkmens in the area of the modern village of Funtovo. He left poems in memory of himself, which were carefully passed down from generation to generation,” the acting Minister of Foreign Relations of the region Ilya Toropitsyn said.
The documentary will also include footage from the performances of Turkmen artists and musicians at the Caspian Seasons festival.
Having completed work in the Astrakhan region, the “Turkmenfilm” film crew will go to Iran, where the descendants of the great poet live. Viewers will be able to see the picture in 2024, during the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi.
