More than half of the civil officials in the Indonesian capital have started working from home. Jakarta authorities have taken such unusual measures to reduce traffic jams on city roads and, accordingly, reduce severe air pollution, CNN reports.

The governor of the city issued a temporary order to transfer half of the capital's officials to remote. Such measures will be applied to state institutions, with the exception of hospitals, rescue and fire services, workers employed in the public transport system. The number of such workers from September to the end of October may increase to 75%, the document says.

The air quality in Jakarta, home to 10.5 million people, has deteriorated significantly in recent days. Employees of a Swiss company that analyzes air recently named the Indonesian megapolis the most polluted city in the world.
