The national football team of Turkmenistan has begun preparations for friendly matches against Indonesia and Bahrain, which will be held in the September days of FIFA.
The training camp started at the Nisa stadium in the capital. The coaching staff of the national team of Turkmenistan headed by Mergen Orazov, along with theoretical training conduct practical classes for athletes. The schedule for preparing the team for the upcoming matches against Bahrain and Indonesia has already been decided.
On September 4, the team of Turkmenistan will fly to Dubai, and from there, in transit through Qatar, it will go to Indonesia, where on September 8 in the city of Surabaya it will play against the home team.
Then the Turkmen team will return to Dubai (UAE), where on September 12 they will play a friendly match against Bahrain.
Earlier, ORIENT reported that Turkmenistan in the September days of FIFA intends to hold a friendly match with Hong Kong. However, the fight was canceled as the Turkmen national team will become a possible group rival of the Hong Kong team in the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.
Simultaneously with the September days, FIFA will host the qualifying tournament for the 2024 Asian Cup among the Olympic teams under 23 years old. Turkmenistan, together with Indonesia and Taiwan, formed the "K" group.
As the head coach of the national football team of Turkmenistan Mergen Orazov told an ORIENT correspondent, many players of the national team will go with the Olympic team, and the coaching staff will have the opportunity to test the abilities of other candidates.
Recall that according to the results of the draw for the second round of the qualifying tournament of the 2026 World Cup, which took place in July, the national team of Turkmenistan was in group "E", where it will play with the teams of Iran, Uzbekistan, as well as with the winner of the pair of the first qualifying round Hong Kong - Bhutan.
Already on November 16, the national team of Turkmenistan will begin its journey in the second round of the qualifying tournament for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a home match against the team of Uzbekistan.
