Turkmenistan is in the TOP-10 countries in terms of the number of tourists visiting Uzbekistan
Since the beginning of the year, 3.7 million foreign tourists have visited Uzbekistan. The geography of travelers is the most diverse. The Uzbek Agency for Statistics has compiled a rating of states whose citizens visited the cities of Uzbekistan for tourism purposes.
Turkmen citizens in this list are in the sixth position - for the period from January to July of this year, 39.6 thousand people visited the neighboring state. The most active were tourists from Tajikistan - 1, 151.4 people, they took first place. But the last in the ranking are travelers from Germany - 14.1 thousand people.
The top five also included tourists from Kyrgyzstan (912.8 thousand people), Kazakhstan (879.0 thousand), Russia (417.4 thousand) and Turkey (58.0 thousand).
Also, tourists from India, South Korea and China visited Uzbekistan to admire the architectural monuments, sights and historical sites of the cities located along the Great Silk Road - Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and others.
In recent years, the government of Uzbekistan has been actively developing the tourism industry and offers various programs and discounts to attract foreign tourists. This includes simplified visa procedures, the creation of tourist zones and the holding of cultural events.
