Turkmenistan to supply up to 2 billion cubic meters of gas to Uzbekistan


“UzGazTrade” and “Turkmengaz” signed a short-term contract for the supply of up to 2 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas to Uzbekistan. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov at the end of in Ashgabat with Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan for the fuel and energy complex Batyr Amanov.
"This is the beginning. We discussed broad prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. This includes the development of a long-term contract. The gas will be directed to the internal needs of Uzbekistan,” Mirzamakhmudov said.
Earlier, within the framework of the trilateral summit held on August 4, 2023 in Ashgabat, the delegation of Turkmenistan put forward an initiative to develop gas cooperation with Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. During the meeting, the Turkmen side offered Uzbekistan and Tajikistan strategic cooperation in the gas sector.
