"Turkmenfilm" will shoot documentaries about Magtymguly Fragi abroad

The film studio "Turkmenfilm" named after Oguzkhan starts shooting documentaries about Magtymguly Fragi abroad. Film crews will work in the Astrakhan region (Russia), Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Turkey.
The first team of Turkmen filmmakers, led by the young director Batyr Batyrov, has already arrived in Astrakhan. Historical data testify that it was here in 1912 that the first collection of Magtymguly's poems in Russian was published. Also, a monument to the great poet was erected in the Russian city, and a school in the village of Funtovo, Privolzhsky district, built on the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan, bears his name. Footage from these places will also be included in the future documentary.
Another film group, led by director-producer Maksat Gylyjev, will leave for Azerbaijan in a few days, where documentary material will be filmed in various places associated with the name of Magtymguly Fragi.
The next filming locations, where Turkmen filmmakers will go, will be the historical places of Uzbekistan, Iran and Turkey, where Magtymguly studied, visited and lived.
Documentary films will tell about the spiritual and poetic heritage of the Turkmen poet and philosopher and the influence of his works on the cultures of other countries. A creative project was launched by the “Turkmenfilm” Association as part of the preparations for the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the classic of Turkmen and world literature of the 18th century Magtymguly Fragi.
