Kazakhstan will use the existing sports facilities in the capital for the fifth World Nomad Games, scheduled for September next year, and does not plan to build additional facilities, it was reported on August 23 at a meeting of the organizing committee of the games, dedicated to the readiness of sports facilities in Astana.

However, in preparation for the international event, local stadiums will be renovated and the hippodrome will be reconstructed.

Last year, the World Ethnosport Confederation unanimously supported Kazakhstan's application to host the games.

About 3,000 athletes from 102 countries competed at the fourth World Nomad Games from September 29 to October 2 in the Turkish city of Iznik. The national team of Turkmenistan won 6 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze medals, while wrestlers formed the medal standings.

The World Nomad Games, initiated by the Kyrgyz Republic in 2012, are aimed at preserving and promoting the diversity of traditions of nomadic culture in Central Asia.

The games feature a variety of sports, including horse racing, archery, horseback archery, falconry, and various types of wrestling, including wrestling on horseback, as well as mind games.

The event consistently attracts teams from all Central Asian states with Turkic roots, including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, Turkey and Russia.

The Fifth World Nomad Games are scheduled for September 8-15 next year in Astana.
