Turkmenistan and Iran intensify dialogue


The Turkmen-Iranian talks at the highest level with the participation of delegations of the two countries were held in the palace of Rukhyet, reports TDH. During the discussions, issues of bilateral cooperation in the international arena, in the trade-economic and fuel-energy fields, as well as prospects for cooperation in the transport and transit sphere, including the Caspian, were touched upon. In particular, the parties called the issue of cooperation in the fuel and energy sector promising, indicating the positions of the two states on the issue of strengthening the energy security of the countries of the region and the world. It was noted that cooperation in the transport and transit area meets national and regional interests, and large Turkmen-Iranian transport projects will increase the potential of the region as a bridge between Asia and Europe. The sides also noted the success of cooperation in the Caspian due to a strong legal basis and various mechanisms for multilateral cooperation in its waters. In light of the rapid commissioning of the Turkmenbashi international sea port, Turkmenistan and Iran have great opportunities to increase multimodal transportation. At the end of the talks, bilateral documents were signed, officially fixing the agreements reached during today's meeting. Thus, at the governmental level the parties signed the Program for Cooperation in the Field of Culture, Arts, Science and Education for 2018-2020, at the departmental level - memoranda on cooperation in the field of trade, in the spheres of agriculture, industry, sports, air transport, customs information exchange and other. Documents on establishing partnership between universities of the two countries have also been adopted. The joint statement on the visit was signed by the heads of state.
