Ambassadors of the Caspian countries discussed with Sergey Lavrov the upcoming meeting of Foreign Ministers in Moscow


Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov discussed with the ambassadors of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Iran the preparation and holding of a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Caspian states in Moscow, the press service of the Russian diplomatic department reports.
Within the framework of the meeting, organized in honor of Day of the Caspian Sea, held on August 12, an exchange of views took place on a wide range of issues of cooperation in the Caspian region and further partnership in the "five" format.
Earlier, head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, Rashid Meredov, stressed Ashgabat's readiness to participate in five-sided discussions on the activation of the mechanisms reflected in the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea, which were initiated by the Russian side. Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ivan Volynkin said that the planned meeting would "definitely take place" this year.
