Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko met with the Chairman of the Management Board of Gazprom, Alexey Miller on Thursday, at the Lakhta Center, St. Petersburg.

The parties discussed the company's contribution to the implementation of socially significant projects — charitable, cultural, sports, the company's press service reports.

It was noted that Gazprom has been systematically involved in the development of the sports movement in Russia for many years, actively promotes the development of professional sports, supports national sports federations, helps in holding competitions of the highest level, creates modern infrastructure throughout the country within the framework of the Gazprom for Children project.

During the working meeting, documents were signed in the presence of Alexey Miller and Dmitry Chernyshenko, according to which Gazprom will support and become the title sponsor of the International Multisport Tournament "Games of the Future" — the first tournament in the history in a format combining physical culture and esports. The competition will be held in 2024 in Kazan.

The tournament is aimed at supporting the development of innovative sports that combine digital technologies and physical activity, and their integration with traditional sports.

Competitions will be held in 16 hybrid disciplines. Each of them embodies the concept of "phygital" (physical + digital), that is, combines physical culture and esports or virtual and augmented reality technologies. It is expected that teams and athletes from 100 countries of the world will take part in the competitions.
