Samarkand hosts the III meeting of the ministers of health of the OTS member countries

In Samarkand on Tuesday, two international forums began their work at once - the III meeting of the ministers of health of the countries of members and observers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the 9th World Turkic Medical Congress. The conference participants were ministers of health of the countries participating in the OTS, rectors and professors of leading higher medical educational institutions, heads of prestigious medical clinics, research institutes, specialized medical centers, large pharmaceutical companies and healthcare corporations, as well as scientists from around the world, according to IA “Dunyo”.
The delegates discussed a number of topical issues and adopted a joint declaration, which reflects such areas of cooperation as the development of the Rules for the Pharmacopoeia of Turkic-speaking countries, the preparation of a joint draft Action Plan for the provision of humanitarian and healthcare in emergency situations, as well as for the fight against infectious diseases.
The forum also considered the possibility of implementing the joint production of medicines and medical equipment, mutual recognition of diplomas issued in the field of medicine by the member states of the organization.
In addition, the Samarkand Declaration will contribute to the creation of a common network in the field of health tourism with the participation of member states and observers of the OTS, the creation of a Unified Medical Information Dictionary and other projects.
Recall that the OTS was established in October 2009 as the Turkic Council, and in November 2021 it was renamed the Organization of Turkic States. At present, its members are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan, while Hungary and Turkmenistan are observers. The main goal of the OTS is the development of comprehensive cooperation between the Turkic peoples.
