The Ambassador of Japan to Turkmenistan highly appreciated the level of development of judo in the country


Japanese Ambassador to Turkmenistan Yamamoto Hiroyuki held a meeting with the chairman of the country's Judo Federation Velmurad Gurbanmyradov and the Japanese coach of Turkmenistan's national judo team Kazuhiko Tokuno, the press service of the Japanese diplomatic mission in Ashgabat reports.
Ambassador Yamamoto Hiroyuki presented the Certificate of Honor of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan to the representative of the Judo Federation for his services in the development of this sport in Turkmenistan.
The Judo Federation organizes national competitions on an ongoing basis, contributing to the dissemination and popularization of this sport among Turkmen athletes.
Since the creation of the Federation in 2006 to the present, the number of judoists in Turkmenistan has grown from 500 to 6000 people.
Now Turkmenistan's national judo team, led by coach Kazuhiko Tokuno from Japan, is preparing for qualifying tournaments and hopes to win medals at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
In addition, the current month will be quite busy for Turkmen judoists. Athletes will take part in the Croatian Grand Prix, the Grand Slam tournament in Kazakhstan, and young judoists will compete for awards at the World Championships in Zagreb (Croatia).
