The international conference "The Caspian Sea is the Sea of Peace and Friendship" will start its work on August 12 in the National Tourist Zone "Avaza", located on the picturesque Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea. The participants of the dialogue will be the heads of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, representatives of the diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, as well as Georgia and Romania.
The delegates of the international communities will be representatives of the UN, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, the German Society for International Cooperation GIZ, the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO, the International Institute of the Law of the Sea and the International Ocean Institute.
The multifunctional center "Hasyl" will become a platform for dialogue. The Forum is dedicated to the International Caspian Day, which is celebrated annually on August 12, the day when in 2006 five Caspian littoral states: Turkmenistan, Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan adopted the Tehran Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment.
The conference participants will consider topical issues related to the further interaction of the states of the region in the Caspian Sea sector, including in the environmental, geostrategic, economic and transport spheres.
It should be recalled that on the initiative of Turkmenistan and under the auspices of the UN, the Caspian Environmental Forum has been held since 2012, and the Caspian Economic Forum since 2019.
