The UAE is interested in supplies via the North-South corridor via the railway of Turkmenistan


Cargo transport links between the EAEU countries and the UAE, including rail transportation through Turkmenistan, were the subject of a meeting on Thursday, August 10, Minister for Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission Arzybek Kozhoshev with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Russian Federation Mohammad Ahmad Al-Jaber.
The parties discussed issues of cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and the UAE in the context of the development of the international transport corridor "North –South" and alternative energy.
The EEC Minister informed that in the context of the formation of new logistics routes, the EAEU countries and the Commission are conducting an active dialogue with the states parties to the Agreement on the North-South International Transport Corridor and all interested countries on the development of the corridor infrastructure and increasing the volume of traffic along it, including in the direction of the UAE.
"The possibilities of increasing the shipment of goods from the EAEU countries by rail through Turkmenistan and Iran and further by sea to the UAE (and in the opposite direction) are being studied, and, in particular, the possibility of increasing the transportation of food cargo from the five countries to the UAE within the framework of the joint project of the EAEU countries "Eurasian Agroexpress", – said Arzybek Kozhoshev.
Also, taking into account the achievements of the UAE in the field of digital development, the opportunity to exchange experience on the digitalization of transport, especially in sea port zones, is of considerable interest.
Mohammad Ahmad Al-Jaber informed about the UAE's readiness for dialogue with the EAEU in the fields of transport and energy, interest in the imminent conclusion of an economic partnership agreement between the Emirates and the EAEU.
