Turkmenistan and Iran increase swap gas supplies

Director General of the National Iranian Gas Company Majid Cheghani announced a trial supply of 10 million cubic meters of Turkmen gas per day.
He told the media about this at a press conference, reports Mehr. Chegni noted: “We paid off our debt to Turkmenistan in three stages and now we have increased the volume of gas swap from this country from 4.5 to 8 million cubic meters per day. We have agreed with the Turkmens on gas imports under short-term and long- term scenarios.”
According to the official, a test daily supply of 10 million cubic meters of gas from Turkmenistan was also successfully carried out. The plans, in accordance with the prospects for further development of gas fields in Turkmenistan, include an increase in import volumes.
An indefinite trilateral agreement with Iran and Azerbaijan on swap supplies of Turkmen blue fuel was signed in Ashgabat in November 2021.
In 2022, as part of the agreement, Turkmenistan sent about 4-4.5 million cubic meters of gas to Iran daily.
At the same time, Tehran and Baku expressed their readiness to double the import of Turkmen natural gas under this swap scheme.
