Friday is the least productive day of the week for work

Employees of a large energy company participated in the experiment of scientists at the University of Texas. Over the course of two years, from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018, the researchers monitored 789 workers, namely, they analyzed computer usage indicators: typing speed, typos, and mouse activity. Observations made it possible to find out at what time office workers are less active and more prone to errors, Plos ONE writes.
To evaluate performance, the team compared computer usage patterns on different days of the week and at different times of the day. It turned out that the least productive employees were in the afternoon and on Fridays, and the end of Friday turned out to be the most unfavorable time for work.
“People typed more words, used the mouse more and scrolled through the pages every day from Monday to Thursday, then on Friday this activity decreased,” the authors of the scientific project said.
According to scientists, the introduction of a flexible schedule or a hybrid system that combines work in the office and “remote work” can help increase labor productivity. Such measures also have a beneficial effect on the physical and mental health of office workers, the report said.
