Young people stepped up their entrepreneurial skills at the courses of the Summer Program in Ashgabat

The Summer Youth Skills Development Program – 2023 has ended in Ashgabat. The three-week course was organized by the National Public Association "Union of Economists of Turkmenistan" and the project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on the development of modern professional skills.

The program is timed to coincide with the World Youth Skills Day, which is celebrated annually on July 15. 40 young people aged from 17 to 25 years were selected to participate in the project on a competitive basis. They have undergone the development of personal, entrepreneurial and digital skills necessary for successful employment and career building in the modern world. The main goal of the program is to increase the competitiveness of young people in the labor market.

The Union of Economists, with the support of USAID, has been conducting a comprehensive program for a number of years and is being implemented in three stages: trainings on the development of personal skills (soft skills), trainings on the basics of entrepreneurship and business planning, and trainings on digital skills that are necessary for successful employment and work in a modern office. National experts and certified trainers of the Union of Economists conducted training in Turkmen and Russian.

The project participants received theoretical knowledge and practical skills on such important and relevant topics as professional self-determination, managing their own potential, the basics of business planning and running their own business, safe online behavior and working in a modern office; during the program, young people mastered the basic methods and tools of successful employment.

In addition to the trainings, workshops and meetings with representatives of the Turkmen business community were organized for young people. Young people also got a unique opportunity to take part in the educational Job Fair, with the involvement of real employers, which allowed participants to put into practice the acquired skills and tools of employment in conditions as close to real as possible.

The summer course ended on July 29 with the contest "Plan, product, presentation" - the participants of the program presented their business ideas to the jury, which included experienced business representatives of Turkmenistan from various sectors of the economy, as well as heads of electronic mass media. The works were evaluated according to a number of criteria, including the innovativeness and realism of the idea, the elaboration of the business plan and marketing strategy, as well as the presentation skills of the participants. The winners of the competition received prizes from the organizers of the program, and the project participants received certificates of completion of the course.
