73-year-old Kazakhstani goes on a walking tour around the world, wanting to get into the Guinness Book of Records

Kazakh traveler Sarsenbai Kotyrashov at the age of 73 went on a round-the-world trip on August 2, which will last two years. He plans to return to his homeland in Atyrau in August 2025, Kazinform reports.
"The main goal of the round–the-world trip is to set a world record with registration in the Guinness Book of Records. According to official data, to date, such a record of a person over 70 years old has not yet been registered. I'm in great physical shape. The walking marathon in Kazakhstan has become both a test and a preparation for me at the same time. Age is not an indicator. I feel that I can handle it, I am confident in my abilities, that's why I decided to take such a responsible step," Sarsenbai Kotyrashov said.
He plans to go along the route Kazakhstan – Russia – Georgia – Turkey - Bulgaria – Serbia – Hungary – Austria – Germany – France – USA – China – Mongolia – Russia – Kazakhstan. For convenience, the distance is divided into several stages. The first one is Kazakhstan-Russia-Georgia-Turkey. This segment is 3000 km, according to the plan, Sarsenbai Kotyrashov intends to pass in 100 days. The second stage, the longest - Turkey-France-USA - 180 days and more than 9,000 km. The third one - USA-China-Mongolia-Russia-Kazakhstan plans to cover more than 4,000 km in 130 days.
On his journey, the Kazakhstani took a cart in which he placed the most necessary things – hygiene items, a change of clothes, shoes and a small supply of food. He intends to walk 30-40 km a day.
Sarsenbai Kotyrashov, a 72-year-old resident of Zhezkazgan, is no stranger to hiking. A year ago, he walked around Kazakhstan in 181 days, covering a path of 8000 kilometers.
After completing the first stage of the route, Sarsenbai Kotyrashov will return to Kazakhstan in order to travel again next year, with the onset of spring, from exactly the point at which his first stage of the circumnavigation will end.
