Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran plan to create an international transport corridor


Representatives of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran discussed on Monday the organization of an international transport corridor through Turkmenistan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan on July 31.
During the meeting, held in the format of a videoconference, the issues of accelerating the signing of an agreement between the governments of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran on the organization of an international transport corridor, reducing fees for international road transport through Iran, the possibility of using the ports of Bandar Abbas and Chabahar for export and import cargo, as well as the development of the international transport corridor Uzbekistan-Afghanistan- Iran.
Last week, cooperation between the railway departments of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan was discussed in Tashkent. It was about discounts on transit sections, increasing the throughput and volume of container traffic, and creating joint terminals.
