Belgian Challenge Airlines is interested in launching cargo flights through Ashgabat

On the initiative of the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan in Brussels on Monday, negotiations were held with the leadership of the Belgian cargo airline Challenge Airlines, based in Liege. The carrier provides air cargo transportation throughout Europe, America, the Middle East and Africa.
Ambassador Sapar Palvanov and representatives of the administration of “Turkmenistan Airlines” took part in the meeting via video link. Logistics issues, including the procedures for launching flights of this company through Turkmenistan, visa support and much more were discussed. During the discussions, the readiness of both parties to organize effective interaction between Challenge Airlines and Turkmen civil aviation was clearly confirmed.

Challenge Airlines plans for Turkmenistan to operate flights through Ashgabat on the routes Ningbo (China) - Ashgabat and Ashgabat - Liege (Belgium). This will include refueling the aircraft and changing pilots at the international airport in the Turkmen capital.
Challenge Airlines has more than 1,000 employees worldwide and specializes in air transportation, cargo handling and support services, and maintenance. Its business model spans the entire supply chain. In addition, 65% of its work is related to non-standard cargo, such as temperature-controlled goods, aerospace and automotive products, and animals.

The efforts of the Embassy of Turkmenistan to establish a partnership with Challenge Airlines are aimed at ensuring stable air cargo transportation through Ashgabat, which will bring economic benefits to our country. The air carrier is also interested in including in the geography of its flights a route corridor through Turkmenistan, which is able to provide European-class services, including air navigation services in the airspace and ground services.

Recently, more and more major foreign cargo airlines perform technical and commercial landings at the international airports of Turkmenistan, which have every opportunity to serve transit cargo flows due to their favorable geographical location at the intersection of the main routes between Europe and Asia and the availability of modern infrastructure.
