Prospects for partnership between Turkmenistan and China discussed at talks in Ashgabat


Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting in Ashgabat on Monday with a delegation of the People's Republic of China headed by Chen Gang, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Qinghai Province.
At the talks, the parties discussed the current directions of the Turkmen-Chinese comprehensive partnership and the expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the countries. The interlocutors noted the growth of bilateral trade, and also emphasized the great potential for cooperation in this area. Interest was expressed in further diversification of cooperation in other priority areas, as well as in the field of education, science and cultural exchanges. This was reported in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
A distinctive feature of relations between Turkmenistan and the PRC is the actively maintained contacts at the level of heads of state, during which a wide range of issues of mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields are discussed. A large role is given to parliamentary diplomacy and inter-parliamentary and inter- party cooperation has received effective development - these areas are important components of successful interaction between the two states, Rashid Meredov emphasized
The parties called cooperation between Turkmenistan and China within the framework of authoritative international organizations, primarily the UN, fruitful. It was noted that the countries demonstrate similar or close positions on many issues on the international agenda. The commitment of the two countries to further deepen the partnership in the format of the dialogue "Central Asia - China" was also confirmed.
