The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and China in the first six months of this year increased by 12.3% compared to the same indicator last year. The total volume of mutual trade between the countries amounted to about $5.55 billion, according to the General Customs Administration of China.

A significant preponderance in the overall trade balance belongs to Turkmen exports, which amounted to $5.07 billion during the reporting period. Gas has become the main product exported to China. The cost of supplies of natural gas is estimated at $5.05 billion.

In turn, Turkmenistan purchased $476 million worth of Chinese goods. According to macroeconomic indicators, Beijing is one of the key trading partners of Ashgabat.

Currently, the construction of a branch of the gas pipeline, which will be laid through Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, is in full swing. The new "D" line will allow to increase the supply of Turkmen gas to Chinese.
