The staff of the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan began translating the works of medieval Arab poets and scientists into the Turkmen language, among them — "Al-Fihrist" by Ibn an-Nadim and "Ed-Durerul-Kamine" by Ibn Hajar al-Askalani.

The news about this was published in an article by the director of the Language Research Institute Davut Orazsahedov for the newspaper "Turkmenistan".

Language access to the fundamental work of the Arab scholar Ibn al-Nadim "Al-Fihrist" or "Kitab al-Fihrist" will open for Turkmen readers a valuable reference book on Arabic literature, which contains sacred texts of Muslims, Jews, Christians based on the Quran and hadith.

It also contains the unique experience of an Arab bookmaker in collecting sources on poetry, traditions and law, legends and fairy tales, philosophical views of the Arab world at the beginning of the X century. According to some historians, "Al-Fihrist", which translates as "Index", laid the foundation for the formation of doctrines of monotheistic beliefs.

Impressive is not only the scientific scope of the book, but also its multicultural nature. At different times, translators have found various traces of other cultural civilizations in the book, and it is worth emphasizing the Persian influence on the Arab world, especially if we are talking about Baghdad, the city in which Ibn al-Nadim worked. However, elements of Sinoism, Hinduism and Buddhism also found their place in the collection, and the interest of Slavists was attracted by a mysterious inscription in pre-Cyrillic Slavic, or rather the Old Russian language that was actively forming at that time.

Theologians have long regarded the book "Al-Fihrist" as one of the relevant sources of kalams, written arguments that give the dogmas of religion a clear interpretation and meaning.

Scientists of the Turkmen Research Institute have now completed the writing of scientific works, including "Novai and the Ghazal genre in Turkmen literature", "Description of the Caspian Turkmens in journalism" and "History of the Ghaznavid state".
