Astana will host a meeting of special representatives of the United States and Central Asian countries on Afghanistan

U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West and U.S. Special Envoy for Afghan Women, Girls and Human Rights Rina Amiri will travel to Astana, Kazakhstan, and Doha, Qatar. The trip is scheduled for July 26-31.
While in Astana, they will meet with colleagues from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan at the C5+1 special session on Afghanistan. They will also meet with representatives of civil society engaged in the economic empowerment of women in Afghanistan and Kazakhstan, the US State Department said in a press release released on Wednesday.
In Doha, West and Amiri will meet with a delegation of Taliban representatives and heads of key Afghan ministries to discuss pressing issues in this country.
Priority topics of discussion will include humanitarian support for the people of Afghanistan, economic stabilization, fair and decent treatment of all Afghans, including women and girls, and security issues.
Two months earlier, Ashgabat became a meeting place in the format of the special representatives of the countries of the European Union and Central Asia for Afghanistan. The next such meeting is scheduled for autumn.
