A master from Korea trains the national team of Turkmenistan in taekwondo

Master Lee Jay-soo is the coach of the national taekwondo team of Turkmenistan. He specially arrived from Korea to teach young athletes the philosophy of this martial art. It consists in complete self-control, peaceful settlement of conflicts and self-defense without the use of weapons. Taekwondo teaches children self-control and endurance, and unique techniques allow you to neutralize the enemy with one blow.
Training takes place in the Olympic village. By the way, the 11th Taekwondo competition “Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Cup” was held here last month. More than 200 athletes from all over the country participated in the tournament. The winners of the competition got into the national team of Turkmenistan. There are 32 athletes in the team today - cadets (12-14 years old), juniors (15-17 years old), youth (16-20 years old) and adults (17 years old and older).
Taekwondo was formed in the early 40s of the last century. Masters combined elements of karate and Chinese martial arts with Korean traditional martial arts - taekkyon, subak and kwonbop. The World Taekwondo Federation was established a little later - in 1973 by the Korean Taekwondo Association. And since 2000, taekwondo has been included in the program of the Olympic Games.
