The national futsal team of Turkmenistan lost to the team of Tajikistan in the second round of the CAFA FUTSAL CUP-2023 tournament. The meeting, held in Dushanbe, ended with a score of 4:2.
After the first half, the score on the scoreboard burned 4:1 in favor of the host of the tournament - Tajikistan. In the second leg of the match, the wards of Yakub Ovezov managed to win back only one ball - 4:2.
— The first ten minutes of the match were very chaotic for us. Mistakes made in defense allowed the opponent to score three goals at once, after which it was difficult to return to the game. Pressure from the fans is not excluded, because we played a match against the host of the tournament. Perhaps the players still have some euphoria after the victory over Iran in the first round," the head coach of the Turkmen team, Yakub Ovezov, commented on the game of his wards.
In parallel matches, Afghanistan prevailed over Uzbekistan with a score of 4:3, and Kyrgyzstan lost to Iran with a minimum score of 0:1.
Recall that in the first round, the national futsal team of Turkmenistan beat Iran with a score of 2:1.
As part of the third round, which will be held on July 26, Turkmenistan will face Uzbekistan, Iran will play with Afghanistan, and the host of the tournament Tajikistan will play with Kyrgyzstan.
CAFA Futsal Cup-2023 is the first ever tournament among the national teams of Central Asia. The international tournament takes place from July 23 to July 30 in Dushanbe (Tajikistan).
Besides the Turkmen national team, the national teams of Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are fighting for the title of the strongest team in the region.
Competitions are held in a round-robin system in one round, where each team will play with each. The winning team will be determined by the number of points scored.
