A meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Human Rights was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan


A meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on ensuring compliance with Turkmenistan's international obligations in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law was held in Ashgabat on Monday under the leadership of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, heads and representatives of relevant ministries and departments of the country, public organizations, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.
The meeting participants reviewed the results of the Commission's work for the first half of this year, and also outlined a concrete action plan for the near future.
It was noted at the meeting that the priority direction of the state policy of Turkmenistan is the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of citizens, in accordance with generally recognized norms of international law. In this context, special attention was paid to the phased implementation of the National Human Rights Action Plan in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, the National Action Plan for the Implementation of Children's Rights in Turkmenistan for 2023-2028, the Work Plan for the Implementation of International Humanitarian Law for 2021-2023, as well as other programs and projects implemented jointly with specialized UN agencies and other international structures.
The delegates of the meeting also discussed preparations for the upcoming dialogues within the framework of the UN treaty bodies, in particular, the Universal Periodic Review.
