Charging stations for electric vehicles will be installed along all highways of the European Union by the end of 2025
The EU Council has adopted new rules that will make it easier for electric car owners to travel around Europe.
According to the new regulation, from 2025, fast charging stations for electric vehicles with a capacity of at least 150 kW will be located every 60 km along the basic network of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN—T) and every 100 km in the larger TEN-T network.
In addition, from 2030, hydrogen gas stations that serve cars and trucks should be deployed every 200 km along the main network of European highways in all urban areas.
By 2025, fixed—wing aircraft should be provided with electricity at all boarding gates, and by 2030 - at all remote parking lots. In turn, large passenger ships or container ships should receive onshore electricity by 2030.
The innovation will simplify payments, providing the ability to pay by card or contactless method without subscribing. Operators should clearly indicate prices, waiting times and availability at their charging points.
The new rules are also designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
