One of the leading US universities introduces the art of the famous Turkmen painter
The Rotch library of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) host the three-month exhibition of the outstanding Turkmen artist and photographer Durdy Bayramov, sponsored by the MTI Aga Khan Documentation Center.
Photo-exhibition “Through the Eyes of Durdy Baymarov: Turkmen Village Life, 1960-80s”, featuring over 80 black and white photographs, tells about the way of life and customs of the Turkmen people. Historically valuable photo works allow to look into the traditional house, get acquainted with national clothes, admire the natural beauties. Several images, captured the villagers at work, reveal vividly such traits of Turkmen people as firmness, resilience and diligence.
In the portraits by Bayramov, the faces of ordinary villagers turn into symbols of the country’s history.
Recently, the exhibition was visited by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the USA Mered Orazov and painter’s daughter Keya Bayramova, founder of Durdy Bayramov Art Foundation.
The guests presented an open lecture on the culture and art of Turkmenistan. It was attended by staff of MIT libraries, representatives of the faculty, students, as well as connoisseurs of fine arts and painting.
The famous artist of Turkmenistan and Central Asia Durdy Bayramov (1938-2014) created over 5,000 artworks during his 55 years prolific career, which have been demonstrated in more than 100 personal and group exhibitions.
Portraits, conveying the subtleties of human psychological world, still-life and landscapes, reflecting the richness and flavor of the Turkmen land, various thematic compositions and many other works of Bayramov are displayed today not only in the major museums of Turkmenistan, but in exhibitions, galleries and private collections around the world.
The art of the Turkmen painter Durdy Bayramov is popular and honored in Canada, USA, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and many other countries.
