Turkmenistan took part in the meeting of Heads of Customs Departments of ECO countries in Baku


The 9th meeting of the heads of customs administrations of the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was held on July 21 in Baku, Azerbaijan, in a hybrid format.
The meeting was attended by delegates from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

The framework for regional cooperation in customs matters was discussed, such as the exchange of information on customs offences for the data bank, a draft agreement on mutual administrative assistance and capacity building.
The ECO Deputy Secretary General, Ambassador Syed Mohsen Esperi, in his speech stressed the importance of cooperation in the customs sphere as the main priority for improving trade in the region, which is crucial for achieving the goals set in the ECO Vision until 2025.

The meeting adopted the Baku Declaration, reports of the 5th ECO Committee on Customs Cooperation and the 1st meeting of the Joint Working Group on Trade Facilitation, according to the ECO website.
The Economic Cooperation Organization is a regional intergovernmental consortium that includes ten countries of Central Asia, the Middle East and South Asia. The Organization strives to develop economic, technical and cultural cooperation between Member States. The Council of Heads of Customs is the central body of the ECO, created to facilitate and strengthen cooperation between the customs administrations of the member countries.
